No. Geo-IP lookup maps your IP to your Internet Service Provider’s (ISP) routing node or exchange hub rather than your physical home address. It is generally 99% accurate at the Country level, 80-90% accurate at the State/Region level, and 50-70% accurate for predicting the exact City.
Why does the map show a city next to mine?
If you are on a mobile network, your connection is routed through a regional cell tower or gateway. Similarly, residential broadband ISPs route traffic through central servers, which might be located in a neighboring municipality.
Can a VPN hide my IP address?
Yes. When you use a Virtual Private Network (VPN), your real IP is masked. The lookup tool will show the IP address, ISP, and country of the VPN server you are connected to instead of your actual information.
